Common Questions
Everything you need to know about our Kilkenny walking guides
We keep a gentle, leisurely pace perfect for older walkers — about 2 km per hour on flat sections. There's plenty of time to stop, catch your breath, and chat about what we're seeing. We're not rushing anywhere.
The Medieval Mile Discovery takes about 2–2.5 hours including stops, while the River Nore walk is gentler at around 90 minutes. Both finish well before lunchtime, so you're not exhausted by the end of the day.
Absolutely. The Medieval Mile has benches at the castle, cathedral, and several spots on quiet streets where we pause naturally. The River Nore walk is even better — there are benches every 10 minutes or so along the bank, and we stop whenever you need to. Check our Rest Spots & Facilities Guide for all the details.
Not at all — these walks are designed specifically for older adults. If you can manage a gentle stroll around town, you're ready. We're here to make history and nature accessible, not to test your fitness. Just let us know about any concerns when you book.
We'll send you a message the evening before if rain looks heavy — you can reschedule to another date at no extra cost. Light drizzle won't stop us, but we'll have covered spots ready and won't linger longer than needed in wet weather.
Yes, absolutely. Most of our walkers come with friends or family. Let us know numbers when you book so we can arrange a group that works well together.
